Poison In Their Drinking Water

Paris Mo.,

June 23, 1886

Canford Bryan, colored, of this place, and his whole family, consisting of his wife and three children, have been poisoned by drinking water from a barrel in which had been placed some poisonous substance. The symptoms are those of arsenical poisoning, and suspicion points very strongly to a young colored man, with whom Bryan had a personal difficulty on Sunday, and who was seen in the vicinity of the residence of the family a short time before they were taken sick. The children not having taken so freely of the water as the parents, were soon relieved, but man and woman are in a critical condition.
