Ella Mae Nash Ella Mae Nash, 82, died January 20, 2006, at Mercy Hospital in Sacramento, Ca. Mrs. Nash was born Ella Mae Carey in Paris. She married Neal Nash in March of 1942. While he was in the Air Force, she drove officers and enlisted men in military Jeeps in the Army. They moved to San Francisco, CA in 1945, where she worked for the Emporium. On moving to Portola Valley, CA in 1961, she and her husband opened Village Square Market and Fountain. Later she worked for several gift shops in Menlo Park, CA, where she supported her love to decorate. You could always tell the season by the decorations in her home. She was a past member of the Woodside/Portola Valley Lioness Club and a Cub Scout leader. She loved to travel, shop and go to the theater. Her biggest love was her family. In 2000, they moved to Auburn, CA. She is survived by two sons, Steve Nash of Modesto, CA and Mark Nash of Auburn, CA; three daughters-in-law, Rene Nash of Modesto, CA, Joyce Nash of Auburn, CA and Jean Nash of Portola Valley, CA; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren and granddaughter-in-law. She was preceded in death by her husband, Neal Windsor Nash; eldest son, Greg Nash of Portola Valley, CA and sister, Wilma Morgan of Paris. Services were held at Lassila Funeral Chapel, 551 Grass Valley Highway, Auburn, CA, on January 25, at 10:00 a.m. There was viewing prior to the service at 9:00 a.m. A private burial was held at Alta Mesa Cemetery in Palo Alta, CA on the following day.Donations may be made to the Diabetes Foundation or the American Heart Association.
