Mabel E. HOLLINGSWORTH Mabel E. Hollingsworth, 84, Paris, died Tuesday afternoon, March 28, 2006, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia following a short illness. Mrs. Hollingsworth was born June 4, 1921, a daughter of Ira F. and Cindy Gardner Mayes, in Molino, MO. She was one of seven children. She graduated from Laddonia High School in 1939. Her father’s family helped pioneer Audrain, arriving in the 1830’s. Mabel Mayes met A.D. Hollingsworth at a dance in Rush Hill in 1937 and they were married Oct. 1, 1939 at St. Charles. He preceded her in death July 8, 1984. An infant daughter, Cheryl Sue, also preceded her in death, as did two sisters, Frances Lees and Lillie Playter, and a brother, Joe Mayes. The Hollingsworths owned a grain and livestock farm two miles north of Paris most of their married life. After her children were in school Mrs. Hollingsworth worked various jobs in Paris, spending 20 years as an employee of the Paris R-2 School District. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Kirkland Extension Club, Laureate Sigma Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and was past matron of the Order of Eastern Star, Paris Chapter #216. A daughter and two sons survive Mrs. Hollingsworth. They include Sandra Francis and her husband, O. W. “Boug” Francis, Paris, Gary Hollingsworth and his wife, Theresa, Olivette, and Denny Hollingsworth, Paris. Five grandchildren survive: Tony Francis and Todd Francis, both of Paris. A. D. Hollingsworth II and Sarah Hollingsworth, both of Olivette, and Lisa Schneider of Sunset Hills, MO. Four great-grandchildren survive: Britton, Brant and Alyssa Dee Francis of Paris and Ethan Schneider of Sunset Hills, MO. Other survivors include two sisters, Margaret Babb and Doris Tratchel, both of Mexico; a brother, Ira F. Mayes, Jr., Windsor, MO; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April, 1, 2006 at Agnew Funeral Home in Paris with the Reverend Gene West and the Reverend John Grimmett officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Mexico. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Monroe County 4-H.
