G. C. Mitchell Had Remarkable Book

“Among the effects of C.G. Mitchell, the aged man killed by a Burlington freight train at Lentner Monday of last week, was found a record book, nothing similar to which had ever been seen before in this section. Mr. Mitchell was a survivor of Co. F, Parson’s brigade of Pindell’s batallion of sharpshooters of the Civil war and the book contained a complete record of the members of his company. Only five members of the batallion are now living in Monroe county. They are W.F. Farrel, Neal Price, Neut Turner, John H. Powers and Stephen Henry Scobee.”
