Harmony Baptist

Church to Lake Project

This is the Harmony Baptist Church building, on its acre of ground, bought last week by the government as a part of the Cannon Lake project. It has been abandoned for several years and as can be seen, is in unstable condition. Windows are broken and knocked out, doors are down and lying in the yard, siding in some places is torn away, the interior is a shambles.

Harmony Baptist Church

On Saturday the 24th of March 1894, a call was made for the organization of a Baptist church to be located at Casey College school house in Monroe County on the old Florida road between Goss and Florida.

Rev. W. R. Painter pastor of the Paris Baptist church was chosen moderator, Rev. E. D. Richardson, missionary of Bethel Association was also in attendance.

Visiting brethren were invited to sit in council. Letters were called for and the following members from the Stoutsville Baptist church presented themselves with letters and were accepted as charter members of the Harmony Baptist Church.
